The program aims to equip Indigenous leaders, entrepreneurs, and young people with the knowledge, skills, mentorship, and networks needed to build sustainable businesses while preserving Indigenous values and supporting community-based economic development.
MBA is part of the Education Ecosystem for BUMMA and Indigenous Economy, which also includes the Indigenous Forestry Bachelor Program and the Indigenous Economic and Business Bachelor Program. Together, these initiatives provide educational opportunities that combine Indigenous knowledge with modern approaches to forestry, business, and economic development.
The initiative is a collaboration between Econusa, Mitra BUMMA, Menoken Membumi Membumma, Koalisi Ekonomi Membumi, Univ Cenderawasih, and Univ Ottow Geissler Papua. Through this partnership, the organizations aim to strengthen BUMMA, support Indigenous entrepreneurship, and prepare future Indigenous leaders to build strong and sustainable local economies.
The official launching took place on 3 September 2026 during the Papeda Summit in Sorong, Papua, Indonesia, bringing together Indigenous communities, academic institutions, and partner organizations to celebrate this important step in advancing Indigenous-led education and economic development.
